The exchange of individual orchestra musicians is at the nucleus of ONE®, and a long-established but still widely popular activity. Breaking down their routine, these professionals have to adapt and play in a different working and cultural environment, under the direction of other conductors. The residency period renews their artistic enthusiasm, provides them with new skills and know-how, and supports the intercultural dialogue from a professional and personal point of view.

Over the project period, the aim is that 12 volunteer musicians from each of the 7 partner orchestras will take part in residencies in another orchestra.

This activity makes for more sustainable lifelong learning and emphasis the artist profile of the orchestra musicians.

We were really happy to receive a email from Mr. Bobrowski, sharing his thoughts about his exchange:

Between 16th and 28th August I had a pleasure to participate in music project with Zilina Orchestra "Štátny komorný orchester Žilina".

Rehearsals took place in Slovakia and we went on tour to Poland afterwards. Our concert program covered pieces written by Mozart, Hummel and Mendelssohn. The Orchestra was conducted by Pawel Przytocki from Poland. All our concerts were fully booked. The most special for me was the performance in Penderecki European Music Centre because of unique atmosphere and exceptional acoustics. I find this joint project very successful.

The atmosphere at work was really creative and led to exchange of musical experiences. Colleagues from orchestra were really friendly and open.

I would like to emphasize that everything was organised at best level. Person responsible for that was orchestra's manager Karel Hampl, who professionally took care of ONE musicians and made our stay in Slovakia and Poland really enjoyable. We would like to thank our Slovak friends for productive time we spent together and ONE for project support.
