Composers and managers from the Network met again in Amiens – France during 2 days in March (13-14).

This 2nd seminar was devoted to the progress of the commission of our Network entitled Mont-Blanc Symphony (poem in 5 movements).

As new member of the Network from January 2012, the Het Brabants Orkest (Eindhoven) will be hosting our Annual General & Coordination meeting from February 9th at 9h00 onwards.

Our colleagues from the Jenaer Philharmonie, Simfonični Orkester RTV Slovenija, Filharmonia Śląska im. Henryka Mikołaja Góreckiego, Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinů and our associated member the New Symphony Orchestra (Sofia) will be present.

Coordinator and co-organizers will meet during this session to amend and update the calendar and budget of the ongoing and forthcoming activities of ONE goes places.

Besides, the members of ONE will participate to a debate initiated by Music Center of the Netherlands (MCN) focused on: the role and position of regional orchestras in the new Europe of the regions”

Last February 23rd, the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) published the list of  the projects proposed for EU funding.

ONE goes places, the new project submitted in October 2010 is one of the ten proposals selected to receive a grant in the framework of Strand 1.1 – Multi annual Cooperation Projects.

The actual members of the Network are: Orchestre de Picardie – France; Jenaer Philharmonie – Germany; Filharmonia Slaska – Poland; Slovak Sinfonietta Zilina – Slovakia; RVT Slo – Slovenia; Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinů – Czech Republic.

This new strand will start in June 2011 and will last 4 years.

This seminar will be devoted to the implementing of a future commission of our Network which is to be an orchestral piece in 5 movements by 5 composers from 5 European countries. The title chosen by the Network is Mont Blanc Symphony thus the residence of the 5 chosen composers in Chamonix! It will be a brainstorming session about European ideals and their illustration in music.

The Mont Blanc, as the highest European peak, is to be used as European focus and is to be source of inspiration for this piece.

The 5 chosen composers are:

  • Nina ŠENK (Slovenia)
  • Dominique PROBST (France)
  • Juraj FILAS (Slovakia)
  • Jarosław CHEŁMECKI (Poland)
  • Benjamin SCHWEITZER (Germany)

From October 17th to October 22nd, Orchestre de Picardie will join their forces to Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina (SK), Filharmonie Bohuslava Martinů (CZ) and Filharmonia Śląska (PL) for 3 concerts in each country member of the Network.

The Jenaer Philharmonic Orchestra and the Radio Television Slovenia Symphony Orchestra join their musical forces under the direction of Nicholas Milton, Jenaer Philharmonic’s artistic director.

This combined orchestra presents a concert centered around a major German piece from Richard Strauss: Ein Heldenleben op.40

The programme will be completed by the world 1st performance of a Slovenian piece commissioned by RTV Slo: Lojze Lebič (*1934) – Concerto for piano and orchestra with Slovenian pianist: Nina Presicek.

The Jenaer Philharmonie goes to Ljubljana to join the RTV Slovenia Symphony to repeat this performance which will be broadcasted on RTV Slovenia.

Orchestre de Picardie welcomes two musicians from Filharmonia Śląska, Michal Siwy, 1st violin, and  Grzegorz Kurowski, 1st trombone, in April 2010 for rehearsals and a concert at Festival Les violons de la Paix 2010 – Boulogne-sur-Mer – April 16, 20h30.
